Alternative Medicines Can Be Very Confusing

Alternative Medicines Can Be Very Confusing
AgapePress

The executive director for the Christian Medical Association says all the different types of alternative medicines can be very confusing, and that Christians need to sort them out. Dr. David Stevens says alternative therapies can range from prayer to yoga to herbal supplements -- and can be put into three different categories: the good, the bad, and the ugly. "That's why a couple of years ago we produced a resource called The Alternative Medicine: The Christian Handbook," Stevens stated. Stevens says some non-traditional therapies come from Eastern mysticism and incorporate spiritual aspects that Christians do not often consider. He says Christians do not realize that when they are using the therapies, they are in fact taking part in that false religion. And he recommends caution be exercised when using herbal therapies. "Alternative medicines are not subject to the same safeguards as traditional medicines. They don't have to be proven to be effective, and there's no standardization in how these are produced and manufactured." Stevens says most alternative medicines have no scientific proof they even work or that they are safe. He says the best plan is to inform your doctor before starting any type of non-traditional medicine.

Pakistan: Christian Acquitted of Blasphemy

Pakistan: Christian Acquitted of Blasphemy
Charisma News Service

A Christian was recently acquitted of blasphemy in Lahore, but he has been forced to stay in hiding because of death threats. On Dec. 17, Anwer Masih was found innocent, making him the first Pakistani Christian ever acquitted of blasphemy in the nation's lower courts, Compass Direct reported. Masih, 32, was arrested Nov. 30, 2003 for "disturbing someone's religious feelings" and slandering a religious prophet. A neighbor of Masih who had converted from Christianity to Islam claimed that he had mocked his new beard and derided Islamic beliefs. Masih was held in the jail for six months and released on bail on June 4, 2004. But Justin Gill, Masih's lawyer, said his client remains in hiding, unable to be reunited with his wife and four children since his acquittal a month ago, Compass reported. Fanatic extremists from the Lashkar-e-Mujahideen (Islamic Religious Army) have vowed to kill Masih over his alleged remarks against the prophet Muhammad. In a handwritten threat sent to Masih after he was released on bail, the group warned Masih that only heavy police security at his court hearings on Dec. 17 had prevented them from shooting him. 8th-Graders Told Stripping, Exotic Dancing Are Rewarding Career Choices

8th-Graders Told Stripping, Exotic Dancing Are Rewarding Career Choices
Jim Brown and Jody Brown, AgapePress

A California pro-family activist is urging school officials in Palo Alto to ban a speaker who told middle-school students that stripping is a profitable career choice. Speaking at the annual career day on January 11 at Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School, management consultant William Fried urged girls in the audience to consider stripping and exotic dancing as lucrative career options. According to a report by Bay Area television station KTVU, Fried went so far as to say that, depending on their bust size, strippers and exotic dancers could make upwards of $250,000 a year or more. Speaking to Associated Press after the fact, the Foster City executive said "It's sick, but it's true. The truth of the matter is you can earn a tremendous amount of money as an exotic dancer, if that's your desire." The speaker had included the questionable career paths along with others in a list of more than a hundred potential careers. Randy Thomasson, executive director of the Sacramento-based Campaign for Children and Families, sees the incident as another example of schools in his state allowing children to be indoctrinated with concepts contrary to parents' values. He says it also exemplifies what happens when society stops degrading prostitution and strip dancing -- and is yet another reason for Christians to remove their children from public schools.

Chaplain Calls For Prayer During Iraqi Elections

Chaplain Calls For Prayer During Iraqi Elections
Martin King, Baptist Press

A Southern Baptist chaplain stationed in Iraq has requested special prayer for U.S. troops involved in the historic democratic elections scheduled Jan. 30 in that country. "Our troops will be delivering the voting machines and ballots to villages and cities throughout Iraq and are prime targets for the insurgents. Encourage your friends and family members and those within our churches to pray specifically for our soldiers and the electoral process," Capt. Lyle Schackelford asked in an e-mail to friends and family members. "The insurgents do not want Iraqi citizens to vote, so they do not want the equipment to arrive at the polling stations," Schackelford wrote from Iraq. "Timely delivery must occur so that the elections occur. Freedom will not ring throughout this country if the voting process fails." He encouraged Christians to announce the prayer request in their churches, neighborhoods and places of business. "There is unlimited potential for God's presence in this process. But if we do not pray, our enemy will prevail," Schackelford wrote. "Your prayer support and God's intervention are needed to safeguard our soldiers and give democracy a chance in the war-torn country." Shackelford is one of nearly 2,400 Southern Baptist-endorsed chaplains serving across the country and around the world in the military, hospitals, prisons and other institutions and businesses.

VULGAR ROCKER KID ROCK TO PERFORM AT INAUGURATION YOUTH CONCERT

Inauguration Committee giving misleading, false information.

Last week I learned that Kid Rock will perform at the Youth Concert at the Presidential Inauguration. Kid Rock represents everything that Values Voters voted against in the last election. For information on Kid Rock, click here.We asked a few of our supporters to call the Presidential Inauguration Committee (PIC) and ask that Kid Rock be uninvited. We were hoping that this situation would be resolved without becoming a major issue. Those who called were told that what AFA had said about Kid Rock performing was only an Internet rumor, that AFA did not know what we were talking about and that AFA was not telling the truth.Elisabeth Bumiller, writing in the January 3 edition of the New York Times, confirmed that Kid Rock would perform. She wrote: "The Bush twins, Jenna and Barbara, will be hosts of the youth concert, where the teenage singer JoJo will appear along with Kid Rock." An article in WorldNetDaily also confirmed Kid Rock's appearance.I called PIC once on Thursday and three times on Friday and asked to speak with Mr. Greg Jenkins, Executive Director of PIC. Each time I was told that he was busy. I left messages for Mr. Jenkins to please return my calls. He did not. I contacted a U.S. Senator's high-level staff person who did speak with Mr. Jenkins and asked him to please call me concerning the situation. Still, no call.I urge you to send an email asking PIC to uninvite Kid Rock, and then forward this email to a least one friend. After you send the email, please call and ask that Kid Rock be uninvited.CLICK HERE TO SEND YOUR EMAILThe following information will also appear after you send your email. PIC's number is 202-863-2005. If the phone is busy, call until you get through. If you do not get a satisfactory answer, I suggest you call the Republican National Committee. Their number is 202-863-8500. Ask them to express your displeasure with the choice of Kid Rock. Maybe RNC can convince PIC to uninvite Kid Rock. Thanks for caring enough to get involved.

Homosexual Attorneys from Justice Department Advise Philadelphia Police On Arresting Christians

One Internet news service says not to expect an investigation because of the involvement of the Justice Department homosexual attorneys.

A few days ago I wrote you about the situation in Philadelphia in which four Christians were arrested. They are charged with eight crimes, including three felonies: possession of instruments of crime (a bullhorn), ethnic intimidation (saying that homosexuality is a sin), and inciting a riot (reading from the Bible some passages relating to homosexuality) despite the fact that no riot occurred.

They face a possible 47 years in prison and fines of $90,000 each. Now we have learned more about this horrible travesty of justice.

According to WorldNetDaily, "Homosexual attorneys from the U.S. Justice Department Civil Rights Division not only attended (the) large homosexual event…but they advised police on the scene who arrested 11 Christian protesters, says a source in the agency." (Charges against some of the Christians have been dropped.)

The WorldNetDaily article went on to say the U.S. Justice Department is "not likely to take up the cause of the five criminally charged Christians who believe Philadelphia officials violated their civil rights.

"Did you catch that? The Justice Department will refuse to investigate the treatment of the arrested Christians because some homosexual attorneys from the Justice Department were advising the Philadelphia police on how to arrest the Christians!!!!

WorldNetDaily, quoting their source inside the Justice Department, said the Christians were charged with "ethic intimidation (hate crimes) 'at the recommendation of some of our (Department of Justice) attorneys who were at the march.

'"In fact, Chief Inspector Tiano, who serves as liaison to the homosexual community, testified at the preliminary hearing that he met at least four times with the organizers of the Outfest event in anticipation of the protesters' activities, presumably to discuss how to handle the "Christians" when they showed up at the event. He also said he had 40 officers on site that day. He did not meet with any of the Christians!

There appears to be collusion in this travesty of justice that goes to high levels of both the Justice Department and Philadelphia. A trail date will be set soon.

Would you stand with these Christians who are defending our constitutional right of free speech? We are asking you to stand with these four Christians by doing the following actions.

Send the email to the Department of Justice asking for an investigation of this situation. Click here to send your email.

Help us with a financial gift. AFA attorneys from our Center for Law and Policy are representing the Philadelphia 4 at no cost to the Christians. A gift of $15, less than a cup of coffee once a month for a year, will go a long way in helping AFA cover our costs. Click here to make a donation. One final request. Please forward this to your friends and family. And thanks for caring enough to get involved. ~LH 1 Timothy 4:12~

What would you expect in a Christian founded country!

Why does it take a Paul Harvey to express what many believe? Supreme Court, are you

listening? Paul Harvey says: I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody

for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin, but I didn't go out and hire

a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his theory of evolution.Life, liberty or your pursuit

of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football

game.So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire book of Acts.

They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the

field and the fans going home from the game."But it's a Christian prayer," some will argue. Yes,

and this is the United States of America, a country founded on Christian principles. According to

our very own phone book, Christian churches out number all others better than 200-to-1. So

what would you expect-somebody chanting Hare Krishna? If I went to a football game in

Jerusalem, I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer. If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I

would expect to hear a Muslim prayer. If I went to a ping pong match in China, I would expect

to hear someone pray to Buddha. And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit.

When in Rome..."But what about the atheists?" is another argument. What about them? Nobody

is asking them to be baptized.. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30

seconds.. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom.

Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer! Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One

or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football

game is going to shake the world's foundations.Christians are just sick and tired of turning the

other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us

to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing.

Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying. God, help us. And if

that last sentence offends you, well..........just sue me.The silent majority has been silent too

long.. it's time we let that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard, that the vast

majority don't care what they want.. it is time the majority rules! It's time we tell them, you

don't have to pray.. you don't have to say the pledge of allegiance, you don't have to believe in

God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right... but by

golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away ... we are fighting back... and we WILL

WIN!God bless us one and all, especially those who denounce Him... God bless America, despite

all her faults, she is still the greatest nation of all.God bless our service men who are fighting to

protect our right to pray and worship God. . . .May 2005 be the year the silent majority is heard

and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions.Keep looking up...... In

God WE Trust. If you agree with this, please pass it on. If not, delete. ~LH 1 Timothy 4:12~

PENNSYLVANIA CHRISTIANS FACE 47 YEARS IN PRISON FOR READING THE BIBLE IN PUBLIC

Philadelphia charges Christians with hate crimes, inciting a riot, and using a deadly weapon.Bill O'Reilly reported on the situation on Fox News Channel.

What we have been saying has now happened. You cannot quote what the Bible has to say about homosexuality in public or you will be charged with a "hate crime." Philadelphia is only the beginning. If we fail to take a stand here, this "crime" will soon be applied across America. In the 27 years of this ministry, I have never witnessed a more outrageous miscarriage of justice than what is happening in Philadelphia. Four Christians are facing up to 47-years in prison and $90,000 in fines for preaching the Gospel on a public sidewalk, a right fully protected by the First Amendment. On October 10, 2004, the four Christians were arrested in Philadelphia. They are part of Repent America. Along with founder Michael Marcavage, members of Repent America—with police approval--were preaching near Outfest, a homosexual event, handing out Gospel literature and carrying banners with Biblical messages. When they tried to speak, they were surrounded by a group of radical homosexual activists dubbed the Pink Angels. A videotape of the incident shows the Pink Angels interfering with the Christians’ movement on the street, holding up large pink symbols of angels to cover up the Christians’ messages and blowing high pitched whistles to drown out their preaching. Rather than arrest the homosexual activists and allow the Christians to exercise their First Amendment rights, the Philadelphia police arrested and jailed the Christians! They were charged with eight crimes, including three felonies: possession of instruments of crime (a bullhorn), ethnic intimidation (saying that homosexuality is a sin), and inciting a riot (reading from the Bible some passages relating to homosexuality) despite the fact that no riot occurred. You may think I am exaggerating. I’m not. Our AFA Center for Law and Policy is representing these four individuals at no cost. We will take this case all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary to get justice. There is so much more about this case I don't have room for it in this letter. We have prepared a 25-minute VHS/DVD in which two AFA-CLP attorneys discuss the case in detail. Please help us with our expenses in representing these committed Christians. With your tax-deductible gift of $15, less than the cost of a cup of coffee once a month for the next year, we will send your choice of either the VHS or DVD. Watch the VHS/DVD, then share it with your Sunday school class and church. This VHS/DVD should be required viewing in every church in America.

Life Explained!!

If you know me, you know I like to smile! I hope this makes you smile as it did me!

Life Explained....

On the first day God created the dog. God said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's too long to be barking. Give me ten years and I'll give you back the other ten." So God agreed. On the second day God created the monkey. God said, "Entertain people, do monkey tricks, make them laugh. I'll give you a twenty-year life span." The monkey said, "How boring, monkey tricks for twenty years? I don't think so. Dog gave you back ten, so that's what I'll do too, okay?" And God agreed. On the third day God created the cow. God said, "You must go to the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer. I will give you a life span of sixty years." The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty and I'll give back the other forty." And God agreed again. On the forth day God created man. God said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. I'll give you twenty years." Man said, "What? Only twenty years! Tell you what, I'll take my twenty, and the forty the cow gave back and the ten the monkey gave back and the ten the dog gave back, that makes eighty, okay?" "Okay," said God, "You've got a deal."

So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves; for the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family; for the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren; and for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.
